Senior Financial Accountant

Permanent at client - Brussels - Finance in Finance

To reinforce our client's financial team, we are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant. Reporting directly to the Head of Accounting, the Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for the accounts of one of the group entities. That group consists of three Belgian companies and is part of the international group.

  • Master’s degree in accountancy or equivalent
  • Ideally, experienced in audit firm and already worked in an international environment
  • You have a sound knowledge of accounting and taxation

What you'll do

Working with the Head of Accounting, you will perform the following tasks:

Month-end closing processes:

o You will be responsible for all aspects of the accounts of our client

o You will draw up MOSS and intra-community VAT returns

Year-end closing processes and other periodic or annual tasks:

o Working closely with the Head of Accounting, you will carry out the year-end closing entries

o You will play an active part in the preparatory work for the external and internal interim and annual audits as necessary

o You will draw up forms 281.50 and 281.30

o You will prepare the annual statement of employer’s expenses

o You will complete the quarterly and/or annual statistical surveys initiated by the federal authorities

Reporting and analysis:

o You will be responsible for entering the monthly financial results on the Axel Springer group’s financial portal

o You will be responsible for inter-company reconciliations within the group

o You will work closely with the other members of the Finance and HR team (8 people) and the other departments of the company 

o You will contribute and respond to various ad hoc financial requests/analyses

Financial processes:

o You will ensure compliance with internal procedures within the company

o You will help improve the existing processes

Who we're looking for

- You hold a master’s degree in accountancy or equivalent

- You have at least five years of professional experience. Ideally, you will have worked at an audit firm and have already worked in an international environment

- You have a sound knowledge of accounting and taxation

- You are fluent in French or Dutch, with a good command of English

- You have a perfect command of Excel and PowerPoint and solid experience of various accounting packages

- You are meticulous, organised and proactive; you have initiative

- You are a flexible and effective communicator and a team player
